Lama Alasdair war 12 Jahre ordinierter Mönch und ist einer der ältesten Schüler von Kyabje Chime Rinpoche. Darüber hinaus sind seine wichtigsten Lehrer S.H. der 16. Karmapa, der ihn als Mönch ordinierte, S.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche und der ehrwürdige Lama Kalu Rinpoche, unter dessen Leitung er das traditionelle Drei-Jahres-Retreat absolvierte. Seit 1984 lehrt er Meditation und Buddhismus im englischen Marpa House und bei diversen Dharma-Studiengruppen. Auch lehrt er die Teenager und jungen Leute aus der Sangha, zu denen er über die Jahre eine tiefe Verbindung aufgebaut hat, die auf gegenseitiger Wertschätzung beruht. Von November 2000 bis September 2016 lebte Lama Alasdair als Residenz-Lama mit seiner Frau Shelagh in Kyabje Chime Rinpoches deutschem Meditationszentrum, Karma Kagyu Chö Khor Ling, wo er auch weiterhin regelmäßig Kurse gibt.

Lama Alasdair has been an ordained monk vor 12 years and is on of the oldest students of Khyabje Chime Rinpoche. Furthermore, his most important teachers are H.H. the 16th Karmapa, by whom he was ordained as monk, H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and the venerable Lama Kalu Rinpoche, under whose guidance he completed the traditional three year retreat. Since 1984, he is teaching meditation at Marpa House and gives instructions in other topics to various Dharma study groups, including the teenagers and young people of the Sangha, to whom he has developped a profound relationship throughout the years, that is carried by mutual appreciation. From November 2000 until September 2016 Lama Alasdair was the resident Lama of Karma Kagyü Chö Khor Ling and lived at the centre with his wife Shelagh, where he continues to teach dharma courses.
